This goal of this online journal (I'm reluctant to say "blog" because I hate that word) is to document a beginner's experiences with affiliate marketing.

I am a 15+ year sysadmin with a strong focus in Cisco and Linux.  Since 2000, I have been working entirely as a consultant in this regard.  In my normal jobs, I mainly work on building and maintaining networks and systems for my clients.

But.... (there's always a "but", right?) recently a good friend introduced me into the world of affiliate marketing.  The friend in question is a incredibly bright person with strong developer and sysadmin skill sets, so I took his ideas and suggestions seriously.

After about one month of trying to build up various niche sites, blogs and community forums, I felt like I was just scratching the surface, but it seemed like a good time to start documenting the process and the long road ahead.  This journal is that documentation.
